2023 Sailboat Postcard Rate Stamps Sheet First-Class Rate

Pictures an abstract illustrations of sailboats on calm seas with blue skies in the background.  The designs were taken from pieces of graphic art by Libby Vander Ploeg who also made the lettering for the word “postcard” for the stamps.  Vander Ploeg began with pencil sketches and then used Adobe Illustrator to create the final artworks.

Sailboats and sailing ships have existed since ancient Egypt.  They have served as work vessels for fishermen, war ships, and recreational craft.  They have also been popular subjects for artists.  After all, what could be more beautiful than crisp white sails against the blue backdrop of the ocean?  Many such scenes have also been pictured on postage stamps, making them a popular topic for collectors.
